Google Chat — External Users
Do’s (External Users – Google Chat Integration)
- Able to get the Google Chat User Id of an external user, if added in a space.
- Able to retrieve messages sent by external users added in spaces.
Don’ts (External Users – Google Chat Integration)
- Cannot retrieve external users directly as regular users via the API.
- Not able to check whether an external user is active or inactive.
- Not able to obtain google OAuth consent from an external user.
- Not able to automatically map or sync external users to Slack users; a Slack user must be created.
- Not able to fetch the email address or full profile details of external users.

Google Chat — Inactive Users
Do’s (Inactive Users – Google Chat Integration)
- Able to get the Google Chat user ID, Email, Name of an inactive user.
- Able to fetch the historical messages of an inactive user.
- We can check active / suspended status.
Don’ts (Inactive Users – Google Chat Integration)
- OAuth consent cannot be obtained.

MS Teams — Inactive Users
Do’s (Inactive Users – MS Teams)
- Able to retrieve User ID (Azure AD Object ID), Email, and Display Name of an inactive user.
- Able to fetch historical chat and channel messages of an inactive user (subject to retention policies).
- Able to check user account status (active, disabled, or deleted) via Azure AD / Microsoft Graph.
Don’ts (Inactive Users – MS Teams)
- OAuth consent cannot be obtained from inactive or disabled users.
- Cannot send or receive new messages on behalf of inactive users.
- Cannot add inactive users to new Teams or channels.
- We are not able to send the chat if the tokens on two user’s are same, all the messages are sent to a single person to their personal messages.

MS Teams — External Users
Do’s (External Users – MS Teams)
- Able to get the User Id of an external user.
- Able to retrieve messages sent by external users added in spaces.
Don’ts (External Users – MS Teams)
- Not able to automatically map or sync external Teams users to Slack users; a corresponding Slack user must already exist or be manually created.
- Not able to fetch full profile details (such as personal email, organization details, or presence).
- Not able to access messages or membership of private channels unless the member of that channel.
