1. General Prerequisites
Admin Access
- Google Workspace / Microsoft Teams – Admin access for at least one user with the required permissions.
- Slack – Admin access for at least one user with full user and app management permissions.
User Tokens
Access tokens for every user are required after the migration application has been installed.

2. Slack-Specific Prerequisites

3. Dependencies
- All users must accept their Slack workspace invitations.
- Bot Tokens and User Tokens must be generated and securely shared.
- User access tokens are required for every Google Workspace or Microsoft Teams user.
- At least one administrator must have admin-level permissions in both the source and destination platforms.
- For Slack Business+ and Pro plans, the user export/import process must be completed before migration.
4. Risks & Considerations
- Token Availability – Missing tokens will prevent migration of chats, direct messages, or files.
- User Delays – Migration timelines may be affected if users do not accept Slack invitations promptly.
- File Permissions – Restricted or revoked permissions may result in skipped files.
- Plan Limitations – Available migration features depend on the Slack edition (Enterprise Grid vs Business+/Pro).
